February Web Professionals meeting: PDFebruary at Carolina with Craig Haywood
We all know PDFs are problematic, but it can be daunting to tackle a mountain of inaccessible PDF content on your website. PDFebruary to the rescue!
Join Carolina Web Professionals and the Digital Accessibility Office for PDFebruary as we declare February a month of making websites more inclusive by eliminating inaccessible portable document format (PDF) files.
At our next Web Professionals meeting on February 6 at 2:00pm, join us and special guest speaker Craig Haywood who will introduce the PDFebruary challenges, share resources and answer your questions about how to reduce PDFs on your website. You don’t need to participate in the PDFebruary challenges to attend the Web Pros meeting, but we encourage you to register and participate in both. During PDFebruary, each week will have a dedicated theme to guide participants through eliminating inaccessible PDFs on their websites.
Register for PDFebruary now through January 30 by completing the PDFebruary registration form!
This will be a hybrid meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us in person at the Graduate Student Center at 211A West Cameron Ave. For those who wish to attend remotely, the Zoom information has been shared with the group.
It’s that time of year again! The days are getting longer, the pollen is getting thicker, and your website is slowing down under the weight of media bloat, broken links, and outdated content.
Join us for the next Web Professionals Session on Thursday, April 4th at 2:00p.m. in the Graduate Center (211-A West Cameron Ave.) or on Zoom. We’ll be discussing ways to clean up your website, improve site performance, and create better user experiences. Whether you have a dedicated maintenance schedule, or have never considered this topic in your life, we will share tools and strategies to help you get your website spic and span.
Are you aware of all the great tools available to digital professionals at UNC?
Have you learned about a new resource or tool that you find useful or cannot live without and are willing to share?
You’ll definitely want to attend the next Web Professionals session on Thursday, March 7th @ 2pm in the Graduate Student Center (211-A West Cameron Ave.) or on Zoom. We will be sharing and documenting free, cheap, or otherwise life-simplifying tools that improve your work on the web.
Come prepared to share your personal favorites and gather suggestions of new tools that others find helpful. From photo editing to user testing, metrics reporting to code updates, this session will share a wealth of worthwhile tools.
Let’s learn from each other!
