For July and August we’re going to take a look at concepts, methods, and strategies centered on user experience – sort of a UX summer series…

ABE CRYSTAL
Introduction to UX
Thursday, July 8, 2:00PM – 3:00PM

Some of you may know Abe from his work here at UNC and his involvement in Triangle usability/UX community. He co-founded the TriUPA group (http://triupa.org) and is a principal at the user experience consultancy MoreBetterLabs (http://www.morebetterlabs.com/). Abe is also an adjunct instructor at SILS. This will be a fairly high-level overview which will touch on things like  strategy (product planning, brainstorming), research (interviews, data analysis), and design (sketching, storyboarding, prototyping).

Note that this is the second Thursday in July.

EVAN CARROLL
Case Study: UNC.edu Redesign

Thursday, August 5, 2:00PM – 3:00PM

Evan is a User Experience Designer with Capstrat, the Raleigh-based agency that designed the new UNC.edu site. Evan will return in August to talk about the significant role that user research played in the new design. Evan conducted 1:1 interviews, stakeholder surveys, and was involved throughout the site development process to ensure that UX goals were met.

Both events are at the Graduate Student Center on 211 W. Cameron
