March 2, 2012 meeting
Many of us depend on tools such as Firebug or the Web Developer toolbar. No doubt some of us are using numerous other tools to manage our web work more efficiently, without leaving our browsers. At the March 2nd meetup the group surveyed the various kinds of browser-based tools available (almost all free), and explored how we’re using these tools to get our work done. The tools include browser toolbars, plug-ins, applets, and sites that offer specific information and/or test environments.
Robert Kraus, along with Brian Moynihan, and Rachell Underhill , shared info on tools that:
- Ensure HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc., validation
- Assess the overall accessibility of a site
- Analyze underlying web page structure/properties as well as the page content
- Assist in page layout and design
- Assess and improve Search Engine Optimization for a given site
- Much more
